The house

The Practice Room is a quiet place in the heart of downtown Reykjavík, tucked away inside an old house with a lot of history. Many people feel a sense of calm and presence as soon as they step through the door and walk up to the 2nd floor.

For generations, people have passed through this house. Families once lived here before the it became a gathering place for yoga and spiritual practice. For more than a decade the house has been taken care of by Ananda Marga. They have welcomed yogis, meditators, and seekers to do their practice, and today they welcome us to come and carry on that tradition.

There is something special about practicing in a place that has quietly welcomed people seeking movement, stillness, and reflection for more than a decade. Every practice begins with a simple step through the doorway. We welcome you.

The Practice Room - Yoga Studio in Downtown Reykjavik

Every practice begins with a simple step through the doorway. You'll find us on the second floor.

The practice

At The Practice Room, Yoga is explored as a practice of awareness. Through movement, breath, balance, stillness, and rest, we cultivate a deeper awareness of ourselves. Some days we practice with strength, other days with softness, but every class is an invitation to become a little more present.

Our teaching draws from a range of yogic styles and practices like Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin Yoga, and Yoga Nidra. Some classes will focus more deeply on one, while others weave these traditions together, always with the same intention: to prepare the body and mind for stillness.

Rather than prescribing what your practice should become, we aim to create the conditions where your own experience can unfold. We guide, encourage, and challenge, while leaving space for each student to explore in their own way.

Whether your intention is to become stronger, move more freely, deepen your practice, or simply enjoy a moment of quiet, we hope you'll find what you need here. Whatever brings you to the mat, you are welcome.

The people

Stefan Atli - The Practice Room, founder and teacher

Stefán Atli Thoroddsen

Founder and teacher

Stefán has been teaching yoga since 2021. What began as an interest in movement gradually became a lifelong exploration of breath, awareness and stillness. He continues to practice, learn, and teach with the belief that yoga is a lifelong exploration. He is a certified teacher of Vinyasa, Hatha, Pranayama, and Yoga Nidra.

Stefán's classes are shaped by curiosity, presence, and a genuine love of practice. Today, he weaves together Vinyasa, Hatha, Pranayama, Yoga Nidra, and meditation into classes that invite students to explore a broad spectrum of yoga, from dynamic movement and challenging postures to quiet breathwork, deep relaxation, and stillness. Some classes are physically challenging, others deeply restorative, but all are guided by the same intention: to help students explore their own practice with curiosity and presence.

Airi-Triin Teder - The Practice Room, teacher

Airi-Triin Teder

Teacher

For Airi, yoga has never been just a physical practice, it has been a pathway back to herself. Through years of practice, it became a way to quiet the constant noise of the mind, reconnect with her body, and inhabit her life with greater presence, awareness, and intention.

Inspired by this transformation, Airi now shares yoga as an embodied practice. Her classes are creative, organic Vinyasa flows that blend strength, mobility, and mindful movement with breath, inviting students to move beyond autopilot and experience themselves from within. Each practice is an exploration that encourages curiosity, presence, and a deeper relationship with the body.

Over the past decade, Airi has travelled the world studying a variety of yogic traditions through immersive trainings in India, Bali, and beyond. These experiences continue to shape her teaching, allowing her to weave ancient yogic wisdom into a modern, intuitive practice that feels both accessible and deeply meaningful.

Airi creates spaces where people can slow down, be challenged in a supportive way , quiet the mind, and reconnect with the still parts of themselves. Her intention is simple: to help others feel more at home in their bodies and more fully present in their lives.
